Withdraw Your Application

If your travel plans have changed and you no longer require your ESTA travel authorization, you can submit a withdrawal request. We understand that travel plans can change unexpectedly due to personal circumstances, scheduling conflicts, or other unforeseen events. Our withdrawal process is designed to be straightforward and transparent, ensuring you understand your options and any implications before proceeding.

Please review the information on this page carefully before submitting your withdrawal request. Withdrawal eligibility depends on the current processing status of your application, and understanding the process in advance will help set appropriate expectations regarding timelines, potential refunds, and next steps.

Withdrawal Eligibility

Not all ESTA applications are eligible for withdrawal. The ability to withdraw depends on where your application currently stands in the processing pipeline. Below is a detailed breakdown of withdrawal eligibility based on processing stage:

  • Received / Under Review: Applications that have been submitted but have not yet entered the final processing stage are generally eligible for withdrawal. At this point, no significant processing resources have been committed, and the withdrawal can typically be completed within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Processing: Applications that are actively being processed may still be eligible for withdrawal, but the outcome depends on how far the processing has progressed. If the application is in the early stages of processing, withdrawal is usually possible. If it is nearing completion, withdrawal may no longer be feasible.
  • Approved: Once an ESTA application has been fully approved and the travel authorization has been issued, it cannot be withdrawn through our portal. However, you are not obligated to use an approved ESTA, and it will simply expire at the end of its validity period if unused.
  • Denied: Applications that have been denied do not require withdrawal, as no active travel authorization exists. If your application was denied and you have questions about the decision, please visit our Support Center.

Refund Information for Withdrawn Applications

Whether you are eligible for a refund depends on when the withdrawal request is submitted relative to the processing stage of your application. Our refund policy is designed to be fair and transparent:

  • Full Refund: Applications withdrawn before any processing has begun are eligible for a full refund of the service fee.
  • Partial Refund: Applications withdrawn during the early review stage may be eligible for a partial refund.
  • No Refund: Applications that have progressed to advanced processing stages or have been fully processed are not eligible for refunds.

For complete details about refund calculations, processing times for refunds, and payment method considerations, please refer to our Refund Information page.

How the Withdrawal Process Works

  1. Submit Your Request: Fill out the withdrawal form with your application reference number and registered email address.
  2. Identity Verification: Our team will verify your identity to ensure that only the authorized applicant can request withdrawal.
  3. Eligibility Assessment: We will review the status of your application to determine whether withdrawal is possible and what refund options are available.
  4. Confirmation: You will receive an email confirming the outcome of your withdrawal request, including details about any applicable refund.

Processing Time for Withdrawals

Withdrawal requests are typically processed within 24 to 48 hours of submission. During peak travel seasons processing may take slightly longer.

Important Considerations Before Withdrawing

  • Withdrawal Is Permanent: Once a withdrawal has been processed it cannot be reversed.
  • Consider Modification Instead: If your travel plans have changed but you still intend to visit the United States, updating your application may be more appropriate.
  • Approved ESTAs Don't Need Withdrawal: Approved ESTAs simply expire if unused.
  • Group Applications: Each application must be withdrawn individually.

Reapplying After Withdrawal

If you withdraw your ESTA application and later decide to travel to the United States, you may submit a new application at any time.
